KSAMC working with several agencies to provide solutions for fire victims

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation is working with several agencies to provide housing solutions, for the sixteen adults and four children who were left homeless, following a major fire on West Street in Downtown Kingston last Friday.

The fire, which occurred at about 8 a-m, destroyed a tenement dwelling.

Estimated loss is $4.7 million.

Speaking with Irie Fm news on Wednesday morning, councillor for the Tivoli Gardens Division, which the area falls under, Donovan Samuels, said food and clothing assistance has already been provided to the affected persons.

He said the next step is to now complete the cleaning up process, and to make arrangements for housing replacement.
