Shericka Jackson upstaged by Sha’carri Richardson in Poland
National sprint double champion Shericka Jackson was upstaged by the American champion Sha’carri Richardson in the women’s 100 metres at the Silesia Wanda Diamond League in Poland yesterday.
Jackson had to settle for second in 10.78 seconds as Richardson took top spot in 10.76 seconds, to complete a second straight win over Jackson this season.
Sashalee Forbes finished at the back of the field in 11.18 seconds
Yohan Blake was the best placed Jamaican in the men’s event ………he was 5th in a season best 10.01 seconds, while Ackeem blake had to settle for 7th in 10.15.
The South African Akani Simbine won the event in 9.97 seconds over the American Fred Kerley 9.98 seconds.
Natoya Goule secured a podium finish in the women’s 800 meters where she clocked a season best 1-minute-57.90 seconds to take 3rd place.
Tyler Mason stopped the clock at 13.29 seconds for 3rd in the men’s 110 metre hurdles, while Olympic bronze medallist Megan Tapper posted 12.49 seconds for 4th in the women’s 100 meter hurdles with Dannielle Williams .. 5th in a season best 12.55 seconds.
Candice Mcgregor with a season best 50.19 seconds had to settle for 4th in the women’s 400 metres event.
In the meantime Shanieka Rickettes despite a season best 14.56 metres was only good enough for 5th in the women’s triple jump, which was won by World and Olympic Champion Yulimar rojas of venezuela with a meet record and world leading 15.18 metres.
Lamara Distin 1.89 metres placed 6th in the women’s high jump.
