Man listed as POI in yesterday’s triple murder fatally shot during police/military operation in Waterloo, St. Catherine

A man who was listed as a person of interest in yesterday’s triple murder in Waterloo, St. Catherine was fatally shot during a joint police/military operation in the community this morning.

Head of the Corporate Communications unit, Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay says three other men were arrested and two firearms were seized during the incident. 

Sixteen-year-old Innswood High School student, Orlando Wellington, his father Omar Wellington, and mother Sharon Francis-Wellington, were found dead at their home in Waterloo, Spanish Town.

Mrs Francis Wellington was reportedly pregnant. 

Police later issued a list of several persons of interest in relation to the killing of the family.

In giving an update this morning, SSP Lindsay says the triple murder is believed to be a result of an ongoing gang feud in the area.

SSP Lindsay says the security forces are satisfied they are on the right path in the investigations.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop Jamaica at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811 or call 119.

Additionally, the other individuals who were listed as persons of interest are urged to turn themselves in.
