Bail extended for BB Coke High School student accused of beating another

The Grade 11 BB Coke High School student accused of beating a 14-year-old boy at the institution last Thursday, had his bail extended when he appeared in court yesterday.

The matter returns to court on November 17.

Defense Lawyer Hopeton Marshall said some documents are outstanding.

He noted that the complainant was unable to attend court, as he remains hospitalized.

The lawyer added that the prosecution requested an evaluation of his client.

The teenaged boy is facing a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Reports are that last Thursday, the older boy accused the younger one of stepping on his shoes.

It is further alleged that the older boy attacked and severely beat the younger one, rendering him unconscious.

The injured child was taken to a doctor by his friends.

He was later admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies.
