Heart NSTA Trust has indicated that its food operations training programme, for the crab vendors in Kingston, will be an ongoing development offering, with another phase to be undertaken in the next 6 months.

The vendors started their one week programme on Tuesday and this phase will culminate on Saturday, with a cook off / assessment showcase.

Training is part of remedial measures being undertaken by the vendors, and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation, in the wake of a public health scare, due to recent unsanitary behaviour, by a vendor.

The training sessions are being held at the Heart’s Leap Centre.

Institution manager, Orville Plummer explained that the programme is intended to enhance the professionalism of the crab vendors.

He said the job certification programme, allows for continuous development.
