D’Angel rants after National Day of Mourning gets poor support

Dancehall entertainer D’Angel is venting her frustration after the National Day of Mourning for Jamaica’s children did not get the support from the majority of the citizens today (June 23).

Prime Minister Andrew Holness endorsed the Proclamation of Friday, June 23 to be observed as a National Day of Mourning for Jamaica’s children who have been victims of violence and abuse.

The Proclamation encourages citizens to participate in the Day of Mourning, noting that this may include devotions, remembrance services in homes, workplaces, churches, and schools, and private or small group prayer vigils.

Persons may also engage in individual or group moments of silence, the turning on of headlights, the wearing of black, the tolling of church bells at noon, and any other appropriate response.

Via her official Instagram account, D’Angel expressed her disappointment with the lack of support from Jamaicans.

Earlier this week, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen declared today (June 23), as a national day of mourning for the country’s youngest crime victims, the latest of whom is 8-year-old Danielle Rowe.
