Disruptions to operations at, at least 10 schools, as bomb threats continue

Operations at at least 10 schools have been disrupted, following reports of bomb threats at the institutions.

Reports to IRIE FM news are that at least two schools in St Elizabeth received the threats via email, BB Coke High and Aberdeen High.

There are also reports of disruptions at Cedar Grove Academy in Portmore, St Catherine; Tarrant High and Windward Road Primary in St Andrew and Villa Road Primary in Manchester.

The police in a post on Twitter, urged calm, noting that they are aware that more schools received bomb threats today.

The Constabulary says all evidence suggests that the threat to schools yesterday was a hoax.

The police further state that any threat received should be reported to the local police.

Persons are also encouraged to remain vigilant and take their personal safety seriously.

In condemning the threats, Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams declared that the education of children should not be trifled with.

She said threats of this kind must be taken seriously because of the negative ripple effects on the psychological well-being of all members of the school communities and the wider population.
