As the new school year approaches, the Education Ministry is reporting a major reduction in the number of teachers resigning when compared to last year.

Education Minister Fayval Williams made the disclosure while speaking at this morning’s Post Cabinet press briefing.

According to the Minister, between January and September this year, 427 teachers resigned in comparison to 1,538 teachers in the similar period last year.

Mrs Williams added that several strategies have been implemented to ensure there are sufficient teachers in the public school system.

One of these strategies is the engagement of teachers on approved vacation leave.
