The Education Ministry has issued draft guidelines on how devotions should be conducted in public schools.

Education Minister Fayval Williams said this is part of efforts to uphold core values and strengthen character building.

While noting that the guidelines have not been finalized, she called on school boards and teachers to send their feedback to the ministry, so that the process can be completed.

Last year, there were concerns about devotions being banned in schools due to a bizarre incident which happened at the Oberlin High School.

It’s reported that several students fainted in the school’s morning devotion while a teacher was reportedly praying.
