Prime Minister Andrew Holness has rubbished claims that the ‘one-off’ lump sum payment to workers employed in the public sector when they retire will be discontinued.

This, as he again warned persons be to be careful of consuming and sharing fake news.

Speaking at a Jamaica Labour Party meeting in North Central Clarendon on Sunday evening, the JLP leader stressed that there is no truth to the message which suggested a change in the government’s policy for retired employees.

Mr Holness noted that the fake message could have had negative implications for the government.

He urged citizens to be mindful of the messages that they circulate.
