Increased rainfall leads to improvement in water levels at NWC storage facilities

Water Minister Matthew Samuda says the pressure on the National Water Commission (NWC) brought on by the ongoing drought has been reduced.

He made the statement while speaking in the senate yesterday (October 13).

According to Minister Samuda, the Hermitage dam is operating at 100% capacity while the Mona reservoir is back to 70% capacity.

He gave the update while noting that there is still room for improvement.

He said due to the recent rain fall the NWC was able to remove the prohibition orders.

However, he said some restrictions remain.

The Minister added that the NWC is working to resume 24-hour service.
