Jamaica is to forego an estimated 10 million dollars in bauxite levy payments from Windalco, over a two-year period.

The announcement was made by Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke in parliament today.

Dr. Clarke said the company is on the brink of shutting down and the relief will help it remain in operation and recover financially.

The finance minister noted that during the waiver period, Windalco has committed to producing alumina at a level that is 10 percent higher than that which was produced in 2022.
