A 12-year-old student was shot and wounded in an incident which left a man dead in Boscobel View, St. Mary, last night.

Dead is 27-year-old Jahvain Whyte otherwise called “Ratty”, of Bank Lane, in Annotto Bay, St. Mary.

Reports from the Port Maria police are that about 9:40 PM, Whyte and the 12-year-old boy were walking along the roadway, when they were pounced upon by unknown assailants who opened gunfire hitting them.

They were taken to the hospital, where Whyte was pronounced dead, and the child admitted for treatment.

Investigations continue.
