Acting mayor of Montego-Bay Richard Vernon says a meeting will take place on Friday with the vendors who lost their businesses in a fire at the Montego-Bay shoe market at the weekend.

Scores of vendors were left counting their losses after fire gutted their stalls at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been ascertained.

Speaking to Irie Fm news on Tuesday morning, Mr Vernon said the corporation is gathering data from those who were impacted by the blaze.

He said plans are being made to assist vendors who are not able to operate their businesses.

And Mr Vernon noted that discussions will soon take place to have the area reconstructed.
