Public sector Dental Surgeons back on the job following sick-out

Dental Surgeons who work in the public health sector are back on the job.

The surgeons had staged sick-outs this week, over compensation related issues, as wage negotiations with their union, and the Ministries of Finance and Health reportedly broke down.

Speaking with Irie FM News, President of the Jamaica Association of Public Dental Surgeons, JAPDEN, Dr. Vanessa Kiffin said despite feeling disheartened and disrespected by the government, the dental surgeons have returned to work, to honour their commitment to providing care.

She noted, however, that the workers are still awaiting a response from the Health and Wellness Ministry regarding issues that need to be resolved.

Dr. Kiffin explained that although the Dental Surgeons are back on the job, they are only taking emergency cases.
