A search is underway for an inmate who escaped from the Tamarind Farm Adult Correctional Centre in St. Catherine today (April 28).

The inmate has been identified as Jermaine Jackson.

Reports are that at about 2:25 PM, Jackson escaped from a group of 22 inmates who were working on the farm.

Jackson was serving a sentence of one year, for assault-at-common-law and seven years at hard labour for illegal possession of firearm.

The Department of Correctional Services is collaborating with the police in the efforts to find Jackson.
