President of the St Ann Chamber of Commerce Dr Ransford Davidson has pointed to a rise in developmental activities in the parish, despite an increase in murders.

Police data indicate that 16 more murders have been recorded in St Ann so far this year, in comparison to the similar period, last year.

Dr Davidson said the recent opening of the Sandals Dunn’s River resort, is an indication of this confidence in investment for the parish.

According to Dr Davidson, the increase in development which leads to an increase in the population, will also result in increased crimes.

He said he believes with the right resources, the security forces can respond to any threat factor, effectively.
