Tributes pour in for Capleton’s manager Claudette Kemp

Tributes continue to flood social media platforms for Capleton’s manager, Claudette Kemp, who died last Friday.

Minister of Culture, Gender Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange via her official Instagram account wrote, “We have lost a wonderful human being.” Minster Grange remembers Ms. Kemp as sincere, and caring, and one of the most diligent and professional in the business of music and entertainment in Jamaica.

Ms. Kemp, who managed Capleton for more than 22 years, died Friday after ailing for some time.

Capleton, on his official Instagram account, shared a heartfelt message about his long-time manager, whom he referred to as a second mother. The fireman wrote, in part, “There are a few female managers in the music industry but Ms. Kemp was loved and highly respected by the Rasta community, music producers, promoters, media, and fans worldwide.”

King Shango, who expressed that he will forever be grateful, also shared that Ms. Kemp was always there during his trials and triumphs.

Entertainers Gramps Morgan, Cecile, Warrior King, Lady G, Bling Dwag, Lutan Fyah, Singer J, and Bass Odyssey Sound are among the many industry players paying tribute across social media platforms.

Prior to managing Capleton, Claudette Kemp managed singer Beres Hammond for 11 years.

In 2019, she was awarded the Queen of Reggae Island Honorary Award for her contribution to music.

She was also a major player in Capleton’s annual charity show, A St. Mary Mi Come From.
