Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce President says taxi operators protest having negative impact on schools and businesses

President of the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, Moses Chybar says the ongoing taxi operators’ protest continues to have a negative impact on schools and businesses.

Taxi operators who ply the Grange Hill to Savanna-la-Mar route in Westmoreland, have mounted roadblocks and withdrawn their service, in protest over poor road conditions.

Protests continued today for the third consecutive day.

They have also pledged to continue their demonstrations until steps are taken to address their concerns.

Speaking with IRIE-FM nNews this morning, Mr. Chybar said many students and professionals have been severely impacted.

The Chamber President said while operators await the relevant authorities to address their concerns, he is calling on them to cease the protests.
