RGD ends industrial action

Industrial action at the Registrar General’s Department RGD has ended.

The Jamaica Civil Service Association JCSA says consequent on discussion with the union, the finance ministry and the Transformation Implementation Unit, (T.I.U.), the staff expressed satisfaction with the latest proposed alignment and now wish to proceed with its application.

The JCSA says workers also indicated that normalcy at the RGD would resume today, March 1.

The association says it has relayed its no objection to the ministry to allow for pay instructions to be sent to the RGD.

The workers staged a sick out on Monday and Tuesday of this week, shutting down operations.

They were upset about how they were classified under the restructured public sector compensation system, saying this would make them worse off.

Additionally, workers claimed that they were not being compensated as other staff employed to executive agencies.
