Member of Parliament for North West Manchester Mikael Phillips has described the lack of an increase in the monies allocated to Mp’s Constituency Development Fund, (CDF) as a travesty.

In making his contribution to the state of the constituency debate in the lower house on Tuesday, Mr Phillips noted that 10 years ago, when he was first elected as m-p, the CDF allocation was $20 million.

He also noted that in addition to the increased needs of residents, inflation has also increased, yet in 2022, Mp’s are still being given $20 million.

He pointed out that rural and urban constituencies need to be treated differently, as it relates to allocation of funds.
