8 held with lottery scamming paraphernalia in Portmore, St. Catherine from St James

The Joint Anti-Gang Task Force is reporting that all 8 people who were arrested in this morning’s operation in Portmore St Catherine are of St James addresses.

The names of the individuals, two of whom are women, are being withheld pending the laying of charges.

Spokesperson at the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force, inspector Shaun-jaye Mitchell, told Irie Fm news that the operation that started around 7 am took place in the Caribbean Estates gated community as the lawmen sought persons involved in lottery scamming and gang activities.

He said the men arrested are believed to be linked to a major gang operating in western Jamaica and have been in the crosshairs of the joint anti-gang task force for some time.

 

 

Inspector Mitchell said upon breaching the premises the lawmen realized that the men appeared to have been burning several lead sheets.

He noted that over 20 cellular phones, several devices and a Toyota Mark X motor car were also seized.
