Head of the Area 5 police, Assistant Commissioner Gary Griffiths, says all the divisions under his command recorded fewer or equal murders last year when compared to the previous year.

Area 5 comprises St Catherine north, St Catherine South, St Thomas and St. Andrew North.

Speaking during a St Catherine South town hall meeting on Sunday evening, ACP Griffiths noted that this was achieved despite some flare-ups throughout the year.

He noted that up to Sunday, January 7, there had been no murder in the area.
