Jamaica’s Sunshine girls opened their campaign with a rousing victory over Sri-Lanka at the Netball World Cup in South Africa.

They roughed up the Sri-Lankas while scoring the biggest victory margin on the opening day 105-25.

The sunshine girls rushed into a 26-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, and scored another 26 to Sri-Lanka’s six in the 2nd quarter for a 52-11 half time lead.

In the 3rd quarter Jamaica again outscored Sri-Lanka 23-7 and 30-7 in the 4th quarter for a massive winning margin of 80.

Jamaica will be back in action tomorrow against Wales who went down 61-50 to host South Africa.

Meanwhile , defending champions New Zealand opened their World Cup campaign on a winning note with a 76-27 hammering of Trinidad and Tobago earlier this morning.

The Australian Diamonds were also in the winners column as they battered Zimbabwe 86-30.

In other results, Uganda turned back Singapore 79- 37, while Tonga had a narrow 56-51 win over Fiji.
