5 people shot, 1 fatally in Cockburn Avenue Kingston, last night

Five people were shot, 1 fatally, in Cockburn Avenue, Bellrock, Kingston 11, last night (June 10).

Dead is 28-year-old Oraine Bennett, otherwise called ‘Black Man’, of 5 East Greater Portmore, St. Catherine.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 9:10 p.m., Bennett was standing along the roadway, when he was pounced upon by gunmen, travelling in a motorcar, who opened fire hitting him.

The other four men who were in close proximity among a group of people playing dominoes, also received gunshot wounds.

The police were alerted and all five men were taken to hospital, where Bennett was pronounced dead and the other men were admitted for treatment.

Head of the St. Andrew South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, told Irie Fm News, that the incident appears to have been gang related.
