Reports are that at about 3:30 PM, two police officers were carrying out traffic duties at the intersection of Maxfield and Balmoral Avenue, when they were approached by a man.

The man reportedly disarmed one of the cops, then opened fire in the direction of the other, hitting him in his leg and hands.

The shooter then fled the area on foot, taking the gun with him.

The wounded officer was rushed to hospital and admitted for treatment.
